Here are some pictures of the set we made for our Glasgow show. Martin Craig of the Market Gallery may supply us with some photographs he took during the show soon, and hopefully we will get to edit a short reel in the weeks to come, too.

I’ve just returned from Glasgow with my colleagues from MOP. We’ve been awfully busy with our latest show, which we have written, designed, composed, built and directed during the last few months. We were sold out for all nine shows, and we were very sad we could not add on more shows – but we are hoping to get a little reel of the show soon. In the meanwhile – here a few pictures of the construction of the show!

The event was funded by the Market Gallery, and WASPS donated their breathtaking home, the Briggait in the old Merchant City of Glasgow, as a performance space. We are very grateful for having been given the opportunity to make this show happen, and we are especially thankful to all those who gave us extra support – most notably Jules Nally of the Arches, and Aimi Gdula at the Market Gallery.

Idiot Child’s “You’re Not Doing It Right” has scored 4 stars in the Guardian, after being tipped as a show to see by Lyn Gardner - and it has gotten very good reviews in other places, too – hooray! It’s a really brilliant show, and I got to make the music for it so I am extra happy.

The Hunt at Symbiosis? – XV Biennale de la Méditerranée in Thessaloniki

We are currently working on the Hunt, an idea conceived by Duygu Oztürk and devised by the whole MOP team – and we are opening on an entire floor of the Ariston Hotel in Thessaloniki, Greece, as part of Symbiosis? – XV Biennale de la Méditerranée. The piece is a visual and sonic journey through the inner world of a heartbroken young woman, and her desire to escape reality.

The Hotel with all its installations on each floor opens on the 7th, and our piece will open one day later, on Saturday the 8th of October. It will run until the 20th. Performances are at 9pm on weekdays, and at 7pm on weekends. Please write to bookingsariston@symbiosis2011.gr to reserve your space – tickets are free but very limited! Report at the reception to check in, and please bring your ID.

Together with my MOP colleagues Duygu Oztürk and Lela Ramoglou I have the pleasure to announce THE HUNT, a visual and sonic journey through the mind and biography of a young woman. In a maze-like structure, the audience moves freely and discovers the factual and psychological elements that make up the protagonist’s fears and desires, what she gives away deliberately and what her subconscious appears to reveal in hesitant detail.

The audience becomes a voyeur, painfully witnessing the inner tension between who the young woman wanted to be and the anxiety beneath her secrets. But the audience itself becomes an integral part of the story

You’re Not Doing It Right

From the 20th of September until the 1st of October, Idiot Child are showing their new piece “You’re Not Doing It Right” at the Tobacco Factory, Bristol. It is a hilarious insight into two lives almost lived, but often rehearsed, by two siblings who have never left the small island just off the English coast where they were born. I currently have the pleasure to write and record music for the piece, one of which is an adaptation of Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up:

Bohemia – The Memorial Jukebox at Schaurauschen Berlin

A specially designed version of the Human Jukebox will be travelling to Schaurauschen Berlin together with Designer and Producer Duygu Oztürk. We will be performing at the art festival’s opening event on the 8th of July 2011, and the theme is the death of Bohemia as a projection of an artistic lifestyle.

Schaurauschen takes place in the Betahaus on Prinzessinenstrasse, Berlin Mitte.
